Blackjack Rules

A hand of Blackjack begins after players place their bets. The dealer deals each player 2 cards. Usually player's cards are face up so everyone can see them. The dealer only has one card "face up" or visible to the players. If the dealer's visible card is a ten or an ace it is possible for the dealer to have a blackjack. A Blackjack consists of being dealt an Ace and a Ten (10, J, Q, K). If a player is dealt a Blackjack, they are paid 3 - 2 odds (ex. paid 15$ on $10 bet). If the dealer has not dealt himself a Blackjack, players may decide to Hit, Stand, Spilt or Double Down.

Stand- The player does not want any additional cards. Usual signified by waving your hand.

Hit- The player takes another card until they Bust (go over 21) or Stand. Usually signified by tapping the table.

Double Down- If the player wants one and only one more card then he may double his bet and be dealt one more card, good or bad. This option is only offered on the first two cards, and sometimes on the first two cards after splitting.

Split- If the player's first two cards are of equal point value they may split them into two hands. The cards are separated and each card is the first card of a new hand. The player must make another bet of equal value to the first hand for the second hand. The player may usually resplit up to 2 or 3 times if another splitting opportunity arises.

After each player has played their hand the dealer plays their hand. Dealer must follow the house rules and play their hand accordingly. Any hand under 17, the dealer will hit. Any hand 17 or over the dealer stands. If the player's hand beats the dealer or if the dealer Busts the player's hand is paid 1-1. If the dealer and player tie, the player keeps his original bet.
